For the Birds

Note: This is my 2nd post of the day. Please scroll down for my SP and Company challenge card. (I'm on a cardmaking roll!)

Winter has barely started and I am already wishing it was over! I am not a fan of cold weather - it's definitely for the birds, in my book! I am, however, definitely a fan of this adorable snowman image - For the Birds - from From the Heart Stamps.

Supplies: For the Birds (FTHS), Christmas 6x6 paper pad (The Paper Pad),
border die (Spellbinders), green cardstock, sentiment stamp (TAC-retired),
Icicle Stickles (Ranger) and Copic markers.

I love playing along with the Stamp of the Month challenge at From The Heart Stamps. It's a really fun way to get a new freebie each month from FTHS!

Anything goes at SP & Co!

I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had a wonderful holiday with a crafty present or two tucked under the tree. One of my favorite presents this year was a homemade version of the Zutter bowmaking tool. (Have to give the hubby an excuse to use those tools he likes to buy, right?) I used it to make this cute little bow for this week's SP and Company challenge - Anything Goes.

Supplies: Hedgie with Large Bouquet, Ooh La La for Her 6X6 pad (MME),
ribbon (Michaels), Copic markers, pearls and ultrafine glitter.

Here's my handy-dandy bowmaker, thanks to DH:

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:

Pile It On - P is for... (pink and peach)
Sister Act Card Challenge - always anything goes
The Alphabet Challenge Blog - W for Whatever You Wish

This week's Totally Papercrafts challenge is a fun one - Christmas with non-traditional colors. I know I'm getting a little tired of red and green and was happy to branch out a little with this card I made for my college aged daughter. (She loves big dogs!) Frosty Fun!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful! We have been spared the snow (so far) but temperatures are frigid and the snow is on its way. Yumi looks like she's enjoying the cold weather and snow:

If you'd like some tips for adding snow and ice to your card, check out my Thursday showcase at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog.

With this weather forecast, I think this will be the perfect weekend to stay inside and make cards. Hope you get some crafty time, too!

Edwin and Hetty

Ohmigosh, Christmas is just 3 weeks away! How did his happen? If (like me) you haven't started your holiday cards yet, here's another cute new Christmas digital stamp from DigiStamp Boutique. His name is Edwin and he's part of a special offer named Christmas Edwin and Hetty set. I'm proud to say that Edwin was my suggestion for a name, after my grandfather. (He had a sense of humor, so I don't think he'd be offended about an elephant being named after him!)

I colored him in with my trusty Copic markers and used ribbon and papers from my stash. (My craft room cleanout/reorganization is almost done and I have been working hard to use up my scraps and bits of things. I swear I should never buy another piece of paper or ribbon again!)

I really love these new elephants, especially the Christmas set. (There is also an "everyday" Edwin and Hetty set.) They are so cute and different from the usual bears, penguins, etc., that you usually see this time of year.

I'm also entering my project into the following challenges:
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes
Emerald Faeries - Anything Goes
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
My Mum's Craft Shop - Winter/Christmas (2nd entry)
Charisma Cards - Christmas (2nd entry)
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes (2nd entry)
Pile It On - P is for....  (p is for present) (2nd entry)
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Stamping Sensations - Free and Easy

There's lots of Christmas card inspiration to be found on the DSB blog, so be sure to check it out. If you have time to leave a comment or two on the other girls' cards, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

A Perfect Pet Gift Idea

Does your Christmas gift list include a dog-owning friend or perhaps a furry friend of your own? If so, I have the perfect easy gift idea for you! This week's SP and Company challenge is "Easy Christmas" - be it an easy to make card, ornament, gift or other project. So you'll find lots of easy to make projects on the blog today!

For my easy gift, I packaged up some homebaked dog treats in a cellophane bag, secured it with ribbon and embellished it with an oversized tag and a fancy bow. I used the adorable Snowman and Snowdog by Tina Wenke and some papers from the Christmas Reflections 6X6 pad (Echo Park). I used one of Sami's awesome YouTube bowmaking tutorial videos to make my big, fancy bow.

Here's a closer shot of my tag:

I found the biscuit recipe here: Brown Eyed Baker PB Biscuits. Next time, I think I'll try this recipe: Sally's Baking Addiction PB Bacon Dog Treats.

I'm also entering my project into the following challenges:
Just For Fun - Merry Christmas
My Mum's Craft Shop - Winter/Christmas
Charisma Cards - Christmas
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
All Sort - Inspired by a Christmas Song or Carol (Frosty the Snowman)
Pile It On - P is for....  (p is for pup as in snowdog and p is for peanut butter since the biscuits are made with peanut butter)

A Wintery Inspiration

It's time for another challenge over on the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog! This week we're being inspired by this warm and wintery photo:

Here's my card featuring Winter Yumi:

(The snow on the bottom of the card is actually clear and iridescent, but it photographed more colorfully.)

I just love Winter Yumi. I think she's my favorite. :) Wouldn't you love to win a gift certificate so that you could have buy your own Winter Yumi? Head on over to the Y&FH blog. Ho Ho Holidays!

Wow, how'd it get to be Friday already? It's amazing how quickly that week passes by with a holiday right in the middle of it! Did you go any Black Friday shopping today? I did not. Instead, I spent the morning continuing to clean and reorganize my craft room. I'm planning on reaping the benefits of a tidy crafting space this afternoon!

It's fitting that today's challenge at Totally Papercrafts is Ho Ho Holidays. With Christmas less than one week away, it's best to get hopping on those holiday cards! We're sponsored this week by the always adorable DigiStamp Boutique. I used one of the November releases, Christmas Windows. Isn't it pretty?

Here's a close up, so you can see the sparkle from the microfine glitter that I used on the snow along the windowpanes, as well as on the star garland.

Head on over to see the other festive holiday projects from the rest of the Totally Papercrafts team. Then get going on your own holiday cards and projects! If you play along with this week's challenge, you could win a great prize from DigiStamp Boutique!

Another Jess Card

My Thanksgiving break started tonight and I am having so much fun coloring and making cards! I just had to make another Jess Coffee Time card for the Jess College Fund challenge!

Isn't she so pretty? I having fun using up my scraps and I never need much of an excuse to use some pink in my cards. :)

I'm entering this Jess into the Sister Act Card Challenge, as well.
Lisa

Jess College Fund Challenge

When I first heard of the new digi company, Jess College Fund, on Facebook, I did a double take. I have a daughter named Jess who is in college (and who often uses Facebook to help fundraise for various school trips). So, when I saw they were having a challenge *and* that they had a stamp named Jess, well, I just had to join in the challenge!

I love this Jess Coffee Time stamp. I have a lot of little girl and teen images, and it was nice to find an image that covers the older teen / young woman timespan. She is so pretty, too! Since I've cleaned out my craft room, I'm dedicated to using my stash (since I can find everything now!), so I used papers from my scrap stash and colored her hair and shirt to coordinate.

I'm also entering her into the following challenges:
CMC Copic Challenge - anything goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - anything goes

Technique Showcase with SP and Company

This week's SP and Company challenge will give you lots of inspiration for your own card making! This week the DT is showcasing various stamping and card making techniques. For my card, I chose to show off different ways to add texture your card. I used this adorable Santa Claus Stamp Set by Tina Wenke.

Here's a close up to show off some of my texture adding techniques:

I added texture with flocking powder, Glossy Accents, Stickles, layers, distressed edges on one of my layers, stitching and ribbon. You could also try embossing - either the embossing folder kind and/or the embossing powder kind. It's a fun way to play with all of those cool crafting products that we all like to collect!

Check out the other SP and Company girls' cards on the blog. They used a wide range of really cool techniques! Then try your hand at a new technique and link up for your chance to win a prize from the SP and Company store!

(NOTE: If you're looking for the Yumi vs Fumi blog hop, please scroll down below.)

This week's challenge at Totally Papercrafts is one of my favorites - clean and simple. I am not a frou-frou person and my favorite parts of cardmaking are coloring and picking patterned papers. I like the focus to be on the image, whether it's scrapbooking or cardmaking. This new Tweet Heart image from DigiStamp Boutique is perfect for a CAS layout:

Aren't they sweet? This image would be perfect for Valentines Day or an anniversary card. I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Winter Birds

It's a new release week at SP and Company! I just love this new set, "Three Winter Birds". They are so cute and can be colored in a variety of ways. Just check out some of my fellow DT members cards on the SP and Co blog and you'll see that the birds also work as bluebirds or cardinals!

SP and Co supplies:
Three Winter Birds (Tina Wenke Collection)
Echo Park - Reflections Christmas 6x6 Paper Pad

Here's a closeup of the birds. Hopefully you can see the snow that I added to my card - it's a mixture of white flocking powder and ultrafine glitter. (It's so hard to capture the sparkle!)

So Thankful!

Hi there! Welcome to another fun Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge. This week's theme is "So Thankful". How appropriate for those of us in the U.S., with Thanksgiving just a few short weeks away. The theme made me think of Thanksgiving, which in turn inspired me to use an autumn all color palette. I have a ton of autumn paper scraps, so I had a ton of fun coloring and paper piecing Winter Yumi.

Supplies: Winter Yumi (Y&FH), orange Twinkle Goosebumps (Queen and Co),
ribbon (Michaels), paper scraps from stash and Copics.

Stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see what thankfully themed projects the rest of my teamies have created for this challenge. Create your own paper project (using any stamp!) for a chance to win a GC to the Y&FH store!

Balloon Ride

I love the monthly stamp of the month challenge at From the Heart Stamps! Last month, I played along with the challenge using the Harvest Medley stamp, which I purchased from the shop. The great thing about the stamp of the month challenge is, if you participate in the challenge, you get the next month's image free! I really love this month's image - it's so cute! It was also perfect timing for me. I wanted to make a celebration card for a coworker who just completed her cancer treatment. This happy little stamp was perfect!

Supplies: Balloon Ride (FTHS), Lime Twist 6X6 paper pad (My Minds Eye), Copics and pop-dots.

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Today is the birthday of my Yumi and Fumi Handmade team mate, Cebelica. I made her this birthday card using the sweet little Fumi with Messenger Bag.

A little birdie told me that Maya's favorite colors are pink, brown and blue, so I tried to use all of those colors in my card. Happy Birthday, Maya! I hope you enjoy your card and I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Tag, You're It!

Happy Sunday! I'd like to say that Daylight Savings Time gave me an extra hour of sleep, but we are fostering two puppies right now and let's just say that puppies' inner clocks do not account for Daylight Savings Time. :) Oh well, an extra hour of wakefulness is giving me an extra hour of craft related activities. Right now, I am in the midst of a major craft room cleanout - NOT fun! What is fun, however, is this new tag challenge from SP and Company. I also have some fun news to share - I am one of the new members of the SP and Company design team! I am SO excited to be on the team! I can't wait to finish my craft room clean out so I can get back to crafting!

Here's my tag, which using the absolutely adorable Season of Giving stamp set. Not only is the image adorable, but it comes with lots of great sayings.

Button It Up!

Welcome to a brand new Totally Papercrafts challenge! This week the team's challenge is "Button It Up" - use a button (or a few!) to jazz up your papercrafting project. Our sponsor this week is the wonderful Kenny K. I chose this fashionable Phoebe image from Kenny K's shop. She reminded me a bit of the singer Pink, so I gave her some pink tips to her hair.

Supplies: Phoebe (Kenny K), grey cs (DCWV matt stack),
floral dp (Basic Grey), buttons, Copic markers.

For my layout, I used an old Sketch from Taylored Expressions.

Be sure to stop by the Totally Papercrafts blog and see what other buttoned up projects the girls have made this week. Then play along for a chance to win some great digis from Kenny K!

Birthday Boy

My oldest daughter asked me for a birthday card for her boyfriend's birthday next Monday. I didn't have any masculine birthday cards for her to choose from, so I whipped up these two cards using some of the October releases from  DigiStamp Boutique.

First up is this cute new DSB pup, Duke.

I really love this new Owen image.

The layout for my Owen card is based on the current Sketch Saturday sketch.

I hope you enjoyed my masculine birthday cards. Be sure to pop into the DigiStamp Boutique shop to check out more great Duke and Owen images.
